| A supportive housing program for formerly homeless women administered through San Francisco's Human Services Agency. The Housing First program at MEI provides up to 33 units of supportive housing for women who are recovering from prolonged homelessness. Homeless women who are CAAP clients (San Francisco's cash aid program for adults without dependent children) are referred to MEI through the San Francisco Human Services Agency. Housing First participants at MEI receive subsidized rent, case management and access to the community activity program through La Casa de Las Madres support services on site. Money management services are provided by Tenderloin Housing Clinic's Modified Payment Program. The goal of the Housing First program is to maximize housing retention and promote self-sufficiency while providing a safe, supportive environment for women recovering from the devastating effects of homelessness . Funding for this program is provided by San Francisco's Human Services Agency.
