‘Happy Hour to End Homelessness’ at Infusion Lounge September 12

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – Mary Elizabeth Inn, San Francisco’s oldest non-profit organization that provides safe housing and supportive services to women in need, will host a ‘friend-raising’ event on Wednesday, September 12 from 6 to 9 PM at Infusion Lounge (124 Ellis Street) in Union Square. The Happy Hour to End Homelessness will bring awareness to the challenges facing San Francisco’s homeless women and the vital services that Mary Elizabeth Inn (MEI) has been providing for almost one hundred years.

As of February 1, 2012, our waiting list for housing at the Mary Elizabeth Inn will officially be closed. At this time, we are no longer accepting pre-applications or applications for our non-Housing First Program units at the Mary Elizabeth Inn.

We would like to assure all partner agencies and potential applicants that the applications for housing we have already received will maintain their status on the waiting list, although we have no availabilities at this time. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide an estimate for how long it may take for a vacancy to occur.

MARY ELIZABETH INN BOARD OF DIRECTORS APPOINTS
INTERIM EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF MEI

San Francisco, CA (February 7, 2011) -The Mary Elizabeth Inn (MEI) Board of Directors has announced the appointment of Carol Patterson, Dr.P.H., as Interim Executive Director of MEI. Dr. Patterson will begin her interim role on February 1, 2011 while MEI conducts a national search to find a permanent executive director.

Dr. Patterson leaves her position as the director of Corporate, Foundation & Government Relations at Dominican University of California to join MEI. She has held executive positions in both the public and private sectors in Bay Area organizations.

"The Board enthusiastically welcomes Carol as Interim Executive Director," said Mary Glide, newly elected MEI chair and the great-great-granddaughter of Lizzie Glide, who established MEI. "We believe she brings the right combination of skills to maintain the quality of services and to ensure stability of the organization while we search for a permanent executive director." The Board has contracted with Compass Point Non-Profit Services to assist in the search process.

MARY ELIZABETH INN EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR AMANDA HEIER TO MOVE ON

San Francisco, CA (November 16, 2010) - The Board of Directors of Mary Elizabeth Inn (MEI) today announced the resignation of Executive Director Amanda Heier. Mrs. Heier will remain at MEI until the end of the year. As of January 1, 2011, she will begin new duties as the executive director of another San Francisco non-profit organization.

An interim director will begin duties in December. A search for a permanent executive director will begin in early 2011.The Mary Elizabeth Inn Board plans to fill the position by June 2011.
